Remove an account from the approver app

  • 1 min read
  • SaaS · Self-hosted · Android

The approver app can hold accounts of several organizations. Removing an account from the app means this phone no longer approves that account's requests.

How do I remove the account?

  1. Open the app and tap «Manage accounts».
  2. Choose the account. The details show the organization, this phone's name, where the keys are stored and the status.
  3. Tap «Remove this account from this phone».
  4. Confirm with «Remove». The app shows «Removing the account…» and then «Account removed from this phone.»

The service is told and this phone's keys are deleted.

The app says the phone is no longer linked

The message is «This phone is no longer linked to this account.» The phone was removed on the service: by you in the console, by an administrator, in an authenticator reset, or because Google stopped trusting the phone's hardware. Tap «Remove the account from this phone» to clean up the app and, if needed, link the phone again.

The app says the key is no longer valid

The message is «The approval key is no longer valid. Add this account again.» Android invalidated the key, for example after you changed your biometrics or screen lock. Remove the account in the app and link the phone again from the console.

Some data was not deleted

If the app says some local data could not be deleted, try removing again or uninstall the app.

What if the service was not told?

Also remove the phone in the console, under «Protect» › «My phones». See Replace your phone.
