Get requests on your phone (notifications)

  • 1 min read
  • SaaS · Self-hosted · Android

Approval requests reach your phone as notifications. Even without notifications nothing is lost: open the app to see the pending requests.

How do I turn notifications on?

  1. After you link your first account, the app asks for permission to show notifications. Accept.
  2. If you refused, open the app: it shows «Turn on notifications to receive requests; you can always open the app to see them.» Tap «Turn on notifications».

The app says requests are silenced

The message is «Approval requests are silenced in the phone settings. Turn them back on so each request pops up on screen.»

  1. Tap «Open notification settings».
  2. Turn the «Approval requests» channel on.

The app says battery use is restricted

The message is «Background battery use is restricted for this app: requests only arrive when you open it. Allow background use.» (without your own brand, the message names the product).

  1. Tap «Open app settings».
  2. In the battery section, allow background use (the exact name depends on the phone maker).

How do I check the notification status?

Under «Manage accounts», choose the account. The details show «Notifications» («Allowed» or turned off) and «New-request alerts» (registered or not). If you see «Not available in this build: open the app to see requests», your organization's installation does not use alerts and you open the app instead.

What does a notification contain?

Nothing sensitive. The alert sent to the phone carries neither the request, the account nor the code; the app fetches the request directly from your organization's service. The lock screen only shows that a request is pending.

Still nothing arrives
