This article describes a feature in development. You cannot use it yet; the article is here to help you plan.

Remote desktop sessions through privileged access are in development. When they are available, you will open a Windows server's desktop in your browser, and the gateway will sign in for you: you never see the server's password.

How will I open a remote desktop?

  1. Request the account under «Access» › «My access» and wait for the approval. See Request privileged access.
  2. When the access is active, choose to open the remote desktop on it, in «Active leases».
  3. A browser tab opens with the server's desktop, filling the window.
  4. Work as usual. A status bar shows the time left on your access and a notice that the session is being recorded.

What can I do in the session?

AvailableNot available
Keyboard, mouse and resizing to the windowYour computer's drives and files
A Ctrl+Alt+Del buttonPrinting and audio
Copying text to the server, if your organization allows itSmart cards and USB devices

To transfer files, ask your administrator for the approved method.

What is recorded?

The screen and an index of what you typed are recorded, encrypted and sealed. Administrators can watch the session live and replay it. Do not type personal passwords or data you do not need.

What can end the session?

  • The end of the access period you requested.
  • An administrator ending the session.
  • The access being revoked.
  • You disconnecting, or releasing the access when you are done.

When should I contact support?

If the desktop does not open although your access is active, note the time and the message shown and contact your administrator.
