Access schedules in policies (UTC)

  • 1 min read
  • SaaS · Self-hosted

A rule can apply only on certain days and hours, for example allowing an application only during working hours.

How do I add a schedule?

  1. Open the policy editor and pick the rule.
  2. In the «Access schedules · UTC» section, choose «Add schedule».
  3. Set «Start days · UTC», «Start UTC · HH:mm» and «End UTC · HH:mm or 24:00».
  4. Review and create the revision. The console reminds you: «Only changes the draft, without activating the policy.»

To change or take out a schedule use «Replace schedule» or «Remove schedule». Replacing or removing can broaden access and requires review.

Schedule rules

  • Times are in UTC: «The start is included and the end is excluded. UTC does not follow local daylight saving changes.»
  • In mainland Portugal, winter time is UTC; in summer local time is UTC+1. Adjust the hours when the clocks change, or write a window that covers both.
  • An overnight period (for example 22:00 to 06:00) is split between the selected day and the next.
  • Rules with several schedules combined by AND require editing the JSON directly.

In the JSON document

The condition is time_weekly_utc, with a list of windows { "weekday": 1, "start_minute": 480, "end_minute": 1080 } (minutes since midnight UTC).

How do I test?

In «Test decision», use «Simulate schedules only» and a «Simulation time · UTC» inside and outside the window.

What happens outside the schedule?

The rule does not match. If no other rule allows it, the sign-in is refused.
