«Not found» (not_found, 404)

Symptom

«Not found, or outside your scope.», «Not found in your organization.» or «That organization or licence is not within your reach.» appears. The API answers 404 not_found.

Cause

• The object was deleted or retired meanwhile.
• The identifier is wrong (an incomplete UUID or one from another environment).
• The object belongs to another organization, distributor or machine client. For security, the service answers "not found" rather than "forbidden", so as not to reveal that it exists.

Fix

1. Refresh the list and look for the object again.
2. Check you are in the right organization (its name shows at the top of the console) and at the right address.
3. In an integration, check you use the machine client that created the request.
4. As a distributor, check the organization is managed by you (it may have been transferred).

When to escalate

If the object existed, nobody deleted it and it is still "not found", contact support with the full identifier and the time. Never share secrets in the request.
